Islamabad: Pakistani officials voiced concerns on Monday over a $7.5 billion US aid package, warning one of the plan’s chief architects that Washington must address fears over its impact on sovereignty.

Senator John Kerry met Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and the main opposition leader Nawaz Sharif to counter protests over the package which triples non-military aid to the nuclear-armed Muslim nation to help its combat an Islamist insurgency.
